Recognized as a rock and roll icon in the US and UK, Nick Lowe is a singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who has been active in the music industry since the mid 1960s, when he joined the band Brinsley Schwarz. While this early group found moderate success, it wasn't until he began working as a solo artist in the 1970s that he began to receive more widespread attention for his British classic rock hits like "You've Got to Be Cruel to Be Kind." Lowe began producing and writing songs for other notable musicians, like Elvis Costello, and soon married country singer Carlene Carter, member of the Carter folk family and stepdaughter to Johnny Cash. He began to work extensively with both the Carter and Cash families, from whom he absorbed more Americana, country and Southern R&B influences into his musical style. Consistently growing as a musician with age, Nick Lowe has proven to be a singer/songwriter that can outlast his youth and impress fans with the progression that comes with each new album. Since his 1978 debut album Jesus of Cool, he's released over a dozen albums including 2011's The Old Magic.
