After the breakup of French rap group Saïan Supa Crew, Sly Johnson, former beatboxer, felt unfulfilled and decided to change musical direction. Through collaborations with Erik Truffaz and Camille, Johnson explored elements of jazz and R&B, all while digging through old records and remixing them. Johnson fell in love with soul and began creating a modern and diversely influenced version of soul he could call his own.
