Las Cruces has rightfully earned its nickname of "The City of the Crosses" because of the numerous crosses that dot the entire length and breadth of the city. Lying between the monumental Doña Ana Mountains, Picacho Peak and the Robledo Mountains, this city was invaded by the Spanish Settlers in 1598; Catholic influences are still very visible through architecture. Museums, orchestras, annual festivals, historic water tanks, fountains, parks and libraries attract visitors who never fail to be fascinated with this glowing city.
