A beautiful tribute in a serene setting, The Old City Cemetery is one of Lynchburg's most significant historical cemeteries. Spread over a massive 26 acres (11 hectares) of land area, the ancient cemetery site was erected and established in 1806. Due to its immense monumental value, it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Also housed on the grounds are five other museums that narrate the past beautifully. A park, a public garden, and also a wedding venue, this arresting attraction garners maximum footfalls annually. It is also famed for habiting exotic plants, a gorgeous array of antique roses, and almost 90 percent of the city's free and enslaved African-American population.
