The Fiery Furnaces made a big splash in the indie rock world in 2004 when its shape-shifting album Blueberry Boat became a surprise hit. The New York City-based brother and sister duo has since enjoyed a modestly successful career thanks to its quirky, ADD-riddled take on conceptual pop and experimental rock. Often sparking fiercely polarized opinions from audiences and critics alike, the band has certainly had its fair share of head-scratching ideas, such as an album entirely centered around the siblings' grandmother telling stories about her life. It's this oddball approach, however, that while certainly increasing the hit-to-miss ratio, also provides a certain amount of off-the-wall charm to The Fiery Furnaces' catalog.
