Best known for her work as front woman for brother-sister duo The Fiery Furnaces, Eleanor Friedberger has become known for her Patti Smith-style vocals and simple indie rock guitar work. The Illinois native decided to start a solo side project in 2011, with the release of her debut Last Summer on the Merge label. The release received highly positive acclaim and widened her fan base beyond what she had established as part of The Fiery Furnaces.
