Bryce Case, Jr. initially gained fame for hacking into and altering multiple government websites in 1998, at the age of 17. After being charged with criminal offenses and placed in the media limelight, Case used the attention to launch a career as a DJ and rapper. As his original hacking profession might suggest, Case began making nerdcore hip-hop that sampled old Nintendo 8-bit music and included lyrics about Internet spammers, starships and cats. Case dubbed himself YTCracker and began releasing music on Nerdy South records, the independent label he founded, to positive press in the nerdcore niche.
