The Dan Band is an indie/comedy rock band from Los Angeles that was formed by actor and comedian Dan Finnerty. The band creates and releases original music but became famous with its profanity-rich covers of pop songs originally released by female pop singers. Among its notable movie appearances, The Dan Band was featured in 2003's Old School, performing a rendition of "Total Eclipse of the Heart" by Bonnie Tyler, and 2009's The Hangover, during which the band performed 50 Cent's hip hop tune "Candy Shop." Through movie appearances, Finnerty became instantly recognizable and his band's obscene, comedy-infused music became distinctive of comedy films from the 2000s. Upon the release of its first completely original album titled Ho: A Dan Band Xmas, in 2007, and the band's notoriety inspired celebrities such as Sheryl Crow, Neil Patrick Harris, Meg Ryan and Christina Applegate to make cameos in the video for "Please Don't Bomb Nobody This Holiday." The Dan Band's regular live shows, complete with choreography and dramatic lighting, have become an integral part of the night life in Los Angeles.
